Not all of our urns are designed for ashes! Dodero Studio Ceramics line of decor urns are available in three sizes, with your choice of feather or wave carving and over a dozen vibrant colors. Originally inspired by the many fine examples of primitive ritual and ceremonial urns from cultures and places around the world, our Raku Decor Urns can be a delicate and simple addition to any room. This design has evolved over the last 20 years with the intent of fusing the esthetics of the East and West, while indulging in neither.
Raku ware is a style of pottery developed in 16th century Japan. It was created by a tile maker who was working on the palace of Toyotomi Hideyoshi who made a number of tea sets with a pottery technique that involved using low heat and then hand-shaping the product. Soon people wanted to buy raku urns, tea sets, and other pottery items for their homes, not only because of the connection to Toyotomi, but for the beauty and artistry of the pottery pieces created in the raku style. The Japanese word “Raku” means “ease,” “comfort,” or “enjoyment.” The raku style of ceramics certainly promotes a sense of ease, comfort and enjoyment in your home.
The Dodero raku ceramic pottery decor urn’s elegant design fits into a wide range of interior decor schemes, from traditional to ultra contemporary. The lids are adorned with black bamboo and a Zuni inspired gemstone bear fetish matched to the color of the urn. Vibrant color options can be chosen to contrast or complement your existing color theme. All our colors are mutable to harmonize with their surroundings. Strong simple shapes and random raku crazing are pleasing to the eye and calming to the spirit.
Our hope is that these pieces will bring joy to your heart, beauty to your home, and harmony to your life.
